ELEAGUE is back with its second season of professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competition. Live coverage of the events will air on Twitch, and a weekly showcase of the competition’s group stage will air every Friday at 10 p.m. on TBS starting on Oct. 21. The tournament’s Grand Final will begin at 4 p.m. on Dec. 3, with live coverage on TBS.
Christina Alejandre, General Manager of ELEAGUE and Turner Sports’ Vice President of eSports, said of the second season:
We’ve been very pleased with the performance of ELEAGUE and the significant levels of engagement with our content across all platforms in our first season. In our second season, we’ve enhanced the schedule to make the stakes even higher from a competitive standpoint, while also creating an opportunity for a more open field. We believe this new format will keep our audience engaged with our content from the opening week through the grand finals and be more accommodating to team and player schedules.
ELEAGUE is one of the first major e-sports competitions to try to break into mainstream broadcasting, so it’s interesting to see that it’s faring well enough to earn a second season. While you wait for your second dip into the professional CS:GO competition, Paste’s own Cameron Kunzelman recently wrote about ELEAGUE’s appeal to the mainstream and what it means for e-sports.
